Cosmo uses 16-color EGA graphics at 320200 screen resolution. The game uses three-layer, horizontal, parallax scrolling. A file contained with the shareware version of the game urged people not to download it if their computers could not handle it. The game was written with 24,500 lines of code.[4] The game supports AdLib music, but sound effects are generated by the PC speaker.

Like the game, the music of Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure is bright, colorful, and upbeat. Bobby Prince no doubt had a lot of fun with the soundtrack, from the title music, which is a cover of the ZZ Top song "Tush", to the other carefree songs like "Cosmo's Foggy Cosmic Breakdown", and "Da Do Da". The song "Rock It" would later be seen in Major Stryker (DOS). The original music was written in MIDI format in Sequencer Plus Gold and then downgraded to IMF. A couple of the original higher quality MIDI files are included in the rip download.

In this platformer from Apogee, you are going to make your way, from left to right in a cartoony world filled with all sort of obstacles and all sort of cartoony alien monsters. If you've played any Apogee platformers from back in the day, you are going to realize the style immediately. Apogee was never too concerned with the best graphics, the best animations and it never managed to create the most fine of platformers, but it always did a good enough job, that maintained their business model, sharing freeware episodes and then selling full games, for a long time. However, Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure manages to be pretty playable, with just enough variety and challenge to keep you playing. Whether or not you are going to feel like you want the full game that is debatable, however. Yes, you are not going to run out of things to do, but, at the same time, you are not in for an epic adventure either. But for a relaxing experience, and a good dose of unimpressive fun, Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure will do the trick just fine.

The game's technology at the time was comparable and in direct competition with that of Nintendo's Super Mario Brothers 3 for the NES (which had been released several years prior, but was still selling well at the time). Cosmo features 16-color EGA graphics at 320200 screen resolution. Although the game had superior graphics capabilities in the form of three-layer masked horizontal parallax scrolling, this feature came at the cost of the game's frame rate, moving the graphics in increments of 8 pixels (the size of one game tile) instead of 1 pixel. A file contained with the shareware version of the game urged people not to download it if their computers could not handle it.

Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP (2011) aka S:S&S EP aka Sworcery is a music-inspired cosmic adventure videogame created for a broad audience. It tells a brief dreamy story about a lone woman warrior - The Scythian - who is adventuring among the foothills of Mingi Taw, a mountain wilderness, seeking to retrieve and then detonate a book known as The Megatome. The project was is 'a bit like a record you can hang out in'. Sworcery's wry writing style is a mix of evocative, mythic prose and internet dialect circa 2011, and there are concepts in the story & gameplay that connected to then-relatively-new Twitter platform. Sworcery was originally designed for iPhone & the then-relatively-new iPad in March 2011. It was warmly received, some press clippings have been preserved, linked at top left. In May 2012, a Sworcery tumblr was established for an event that prompted a remarkable response, this is also linked at top left. Sworcery was later released for PC, Mac & Linux as well as Android. Around the summer equinox 2012, Sworcery was released in Japan via 8-4 Ltd alongside an official remix record, with Suda 51 providing the voice of Logfella. In August of 2018 it was announced that Sworcery would be released for the Nintendo Switch in October 2018, later shifted to November 2018 - its first time on a bona fide videogame console. The companion record, Jim Guthrie's Sword & Sworcery LP: The Ballad of the Space Babies, was released alongside the videogame in 2011, and it's a gem. Other records 'in the key of #sworcery' have since been released - for more details, take a look at the 'music' section on this website, linked at top left left. The project's history remains in old news posts in the news section, also linked at top left.

The Artful Escape is an adventure game with musical and platformer elements. But players shouldn't fear the sometimes tedious horizontal gameplay of other platformer games. As Francis continues his journey, he treks across beautiful environments around the universe. As you progress, you can choose to make Francis play the guitar as he runs. Playing the guitar literally brings the environment to life: cities and forests light up, creatures awaken and move to the music.

The game doesn't have a point system, and as I played, I felt no fear of failure. Even while shredding for a cosmic creature -- the game's equivalent to a boss fight -- the worst that could happen was a sour note, and I got to try again. As I progressed, the music patterns became trickier to follow, but it only makes nailing the progression all the more satisfying. 041b061a72
